Alcom History

Alcom Printing facility Alcom's history dates back to the early 60's when Lehigh Litho, a small print shop located in Bethlehem, PA was purchased by Vincent Fuller. Mr. Fuller then hired Gordon Allan to manage the operation, and within five years Allan and several other employees purchased the business.

The immediate success of the manager-owned company spurred the group to enter into an agreement to purchase Havertown Printing located in Broomall, PA. This purchase occurred in 1973, and several managers from the Havertown plant participated in the purchase. This merger represented the "coming together" of sheetfed and web offset technology. In 1980, Alcom Printing Group was established as the holding company for Havertown Printing and Lehigh Litho.

The growth continued. In 1999 Alcom broke ground for a state-of-the-art printing and binding facility located in Harleysville, PA, and within five minutes of the PA Turnpike Northeast Extension interchange. This new 85,000 square foot complex combined our two plants in conjunction with enhanced web and sheetfed equipment, expanded Alcom’s overall capacity and its productivity, and provided for a more streamlined work flow process.

Alcom moved into the new facility in June, 2000.

But it hasn’t stopped there. The workflow was screaming for the next step – direct mail, custom packaging and fulfillment, and digital print. Therefore, in January 2006 Alcom opened the doors of their brand-new 35,000 square foot addition. This wing is home to our fully automated warehouse, specialty packaging and fulfillment center, full-capacity direct mail postal facility and our complete digital print center.

Alcom Printing Facility To help drive the digital printing and direct mail side of the business Alcom formed the Alcom Business Development Group In 2008. The vision of the management team was to stay in front of the industry changes and enhance the company’s direction by integrating a marketing communications approach.

By the second quarter of 2008, Alcom engaged into a partnership with the Direct Marketing Alliance to provide a single source solution for One2One Communications for our clients.

Today, Alcom recommends its market savvy client’s to use a blended approach with targeted direct mail integrated with e-technology.
